Job Duties:
In accordance with Ohio Revised Code, Section 5119.07 the Medical Director is responsible for decisions relating to medical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, quality assurance, and the clinical aspects of the following: licensure of hospitals and residential facilities, research, community mental health plans, and delivery of mental health services.
Advises the Director and other ODMH staff on the clinical aspects of mental health policy and operations, as related to both inpatient and community settings. Provides clinical insight to broader public policy discussions on behalf of the department through venues including, but not limited to; interagency meetings, external speaking engagements and media inquiries.
Provides clinical supervision & coordination for the Regional Psychiatric Hospital Medical Directors; responsible for clinical decisions relating to medical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and quality assurance. Provides clinical leadership on hospital initiatives such as electronic medical record implementation, community mental health plans and system of care improvements.
Represents the Department and serves as the spokesperson for the Director on matters related to the delivery of mental health services; attends and provides testimony at meetings, conferences and other speaking engagements.
Minimum Qualifications: In accordance with Ohio Revised Code, Section 5119.07, the medical director must be eligible or certified by the American board of psychiatry and neurology or the American osteopathic board of neurology and psychiatry, and has at least five years of clinical and two years of administrative experience.

Psychiatric Technician needed for service at the
McDonald Army Health Center at Fort Eustis, VA.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited Psychiatric Technician program OR completed equivalent education and experience that meets the requirements of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Psych Tech within the last 2 years working in a facility of similar size and complexity, preferably in a Government setting such as DoD or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MTF.
- Shall be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association
- Shall be eligible for U.S. employment. Contract HCP shall be a U.S. Citizen (certified copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers).
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the intake worker in the Behavioral Health Clinic, conducting crisis and/or routine intake evaluation and disposition:
- Facilitates intake and triage of patients by obtaining demographic, historical and clinical information.
- Assess mental status to distinguish type of case and to discriminate between routine, complex and/or emergency cases.
- Organize, consolidate and analyze information in oral and written form for presentation to a licensed behavioral health provider for diagnosis and treatment disposition.
- Assist in the collection, processing and distribution of intake forms.
- Facilitates linkage to resources appropriate to the needs of the individual including individual/group counseling, education and referral to community services, as indicated/directed by licensed behavioral health provider.
- Perform limited short-term supportive counseling under supervision to aid individuals in stress management, problem solving, expanding and/or further developing coping techniques.
- Communicate on behalf of clinical staff with unit command and others, as directed, reference findings and recommendations, compliance with treatment, and progress in treatment, documenting contacts in the case record.
- Prepare and distribute command notification documents.
- Be available for on-call duty for clinic after hours and on weekends as scheduled.
- Coordinate with licensed provider and department case manager in the psychiatric hospitalization of patients.
Schedule: Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 and 1700. Approximately 40 hours each week, no overtime. Services will not normally be required on the day of observance of Federal holidays. Paid Federal Holidays (if work is required on a holiday, a paid compensatory 8-hour day off will be granted). The program seeks to address gaps in the care available for the prevalent injuries among service members retiring from active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the difficulties of transitioning from military to veteran status. Through adoption of risk based staffing models and a uniform, best practice standard of care across DOD, the program seeks to ensure easy, rapid access to care for all beneficiaries and to ensure that transition across networks of care recognizes the unique care coordination and case management requirements for wounded personnel.

- Screen patients to determine presenting problems and priority of appointment. This may entail telephone or in-person evaluation. Perform basic assessment procedures.
- Assist practitioners in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of mental health patients. Assist in conducting individual and group therapy session. Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction and progress. Institute measures to prevent patient injuries due to suicide, homicide, or elopement. Use verbal and manual restraint and apply mechanical restraints as needed.
- Present or facilitate a variety of health and wellness programs, including stress management, suicide intervention, and smoking cessation. Conduct various programs in support of MTF clinics.
- Coordinate with other base activities and MTFs regarding specialized care and treatment. Contact military or community agencies to obtain information. Assist in or arrange for patient referral to other facilities for alternate level of care.
- Successfully complete MTF medication administration test and successfully complete the MTF Medication Personal Study Instruction (PSI). The medication administration test may be waived by the government if the HCW presents evidence of successful completion of a similar and comparable pharmacology test.
- Administer oral medications and hypodermic injections, following physician’s orders and MTF procedures.
- Provide care to mentally ill, emotionally disturbed, and developmentally disadvantaged patients, and participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs.
- Measure and record patient’s general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, and respiration to provide daily information. Observe patients to detect behavior patterns and report observations to medical staff.
- Intervene to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal patients by verbal or physical means as required.
- Co-facilitate individual or group therapy sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures.
- Regularly interface with staff and patients to assess needs and continuously improve the quality of service delivered.
- Perform other duties within the scope of psychiatric technician practice as requested. Perform administrative clinical activities as directed.

Naval Hospital Oak Harbor is the point of service for all active duty members in the NAS Whidbey Island area. The hospital performs substance use screenings for potential alcohol and drug problems among all active duty members at all host and tenant commands aboard this station. SARP also provides IMPACT education, Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment and case manages addictions treatment in concert with Naval Hospitals Bremerton, Washington and Point Loma and Camp Pendleton California. Naval Hospital Oak Harbor provides ongoing continuing care support for patients treated at those facilities and who transfer in from other duty stations and require ongoing support.

Experience: administering, scoring and reporting psychological test results; interviewing patients to obtain biopsychosocial history, personal information; and assisting professional staff to carry out prescribed treatment plan. Also, experience conducting briefings, performing or supervising psychological tests administration; and interviewing, and assisting in patient treatment, or substance abuse prevention and counseling.
Knowledge is mandatory of: psychiatry, psychology, social work, family advocacy and nursing principles, procedures and theories; confidentiality and legal aspects of patient care; understanding of medical, nursing and mental health terminology, etc. Completion of college courses in psychology, social or behavioral sciences such as psychology, counseling, substance abuse treatment, sociology and marriage and family are desirable.

Qualifications.
- A current certification as a Psychiatric Technician by the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians,
OR
A certification received from military training as a Psychiatric Technician
- A minimum of 12 months full time experience within the preceding 2 months as a Psychiatric Technician.
Schedule: Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 and 1700 for an 8.5 hour shift (includes an uncompensated .5-hour meal break). Approximately 40 hours each week, no overtime. Services will not normally be required on the day of observance of Federal holidays. Paid Federal Holidays (if work is required on a holiday, a paid compensatory 8-hour day off will be granted). 4 hours of personal leave (annual plus sick) for each 80 hours worked.

Responsibilities include:
- Performing assigned patient card procedures under the direct supervision of a professional mental health provider
- Assists in the management of the treatment environment; providing structure, social support, patient education, safety, and social skills training.
- Supervising, escorting, and/or act as a therapeutic participant in patient activities both on and off the clinic.
- Documenting care per clinic policy and notifies the mental health provider in charge of any abnormal or unusual findings in a timely manner.
- Performing clinical administrative activities as directed
- Utilizing therapeutic assessment and interviewing skills to illicit accurate and concise accounts of the patient’s condition.
- Assisting in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of mental health patients.
- Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction and progress.
